What makes an EasyCare
The FDA has published reports in, October 2000, of patients caught, tangled or strangled in beds with rails. In these reports, 228 people died, 87 had non fatal injuries and 56 were not injured because of staff intervention.
Areas identified as entrapment points are as follows (See Fig 1): Zone 1: Within the rail. Zone 2: Under the rail, between the rail supports or next to a single rail support. Zone 3: Between the rail and the mattress. Zone 4: Under the rail, at the ends of the rail. Zone 5: Between split bed rails. Zone 6: Between the end of the rail and the side edge of the Head or Foot Board. Zone 7: Between the Head or Foot Board and the mattress end. The EasyCare Safety Bed was designed specifically to eliminate these entrapment points. Zone 1: EasyCare rails are enclosed so there are no gaps between the rails. Zone 2: Rails sit on top of the bed frame or the bottom rail, eliminating gaps under, between or next to a single rail. Zone 3: Custom mattress fits tight to eliminate gaps between the rail and the mattress. Zone 4: Rails are full length and there are no entrapment gaps under or at the end of the rail. Zone 5: We do not use split rails. Zone 6: Gap between our rail and the head or footboards is 1/8" eliminating entrapment points. Zone 7: Mattress fits tight in the bed eliminating any gaps that could be considered entrapment points. While the EasyCare safety bed is not intended to take the place of proper supervision, it is designed, using all the available data provided by the FDA and input from professional caregivers, to meet or exceed all safety bed guidelines. This way you can be assured you are getting the safety, security and peace of mind you deserve.
